Privacy policy
How Sprour Advisory Inc. collects, uses and protects personal information, under Canadian federal and provincial privacy law.
1. Scope
This policy applies to sprour.info and to all personal information handled by Sprour Advisory Inc. in the course of its advisory work. We follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation. Where a public-sector client is subject to its own access and privacy statute, the client’s obligations are reflected in the engagement agreement and, where they are stricter, they govern.
2. What we collect
We collect only what is needed to answer an enquiry or carry out an engagement:
- Enquiry details — the name, organisation, email address, telephone number and message you submit through a form on this site.
- Bulletin subscriptions — the email address you provide, and the date consent was given.
- Engagement records — contact details of client staff, meeting notes, correspondence and contractual documents.
- Server logs — truncated IP address, browser type, referring page and timestamps, retained for security and capacity purposes.
We do not collect sensitive personal information, we do not buy contact lists, and we do not operate advertising or profiling technology on this site.
3. How we use it
Enquiry details are used to reply to you and, if an engagement follows, to administer it. Bulletin addresses are used to send the quarterly bulletin and nothing else. Server logs are used to keep the site available and secure. We do not use personal information for automated decision-making.
4. Fleet and telematics data
Duty-cycle logging records vehicle behaviour: position, speed, engine state, battery or fuel state, ambient temperature and auxiliary loads. This data can, in combination with a client’s own duty rosters, identify individual drivers. We treat it accordingly.
- Vehicles are identified by unit number. We do not request, receive or store driver names.
- Loggers are installed with the client’s written authorisation and, where a collective agreement applies, following the consultation the agreement requires.
- Raw telemetry is stored encrypted on infrastructure located in Canada.
- Telemetry is delivered to the client in open formats at the end of the engagement and deleted from our systems twenty-four months after delivery, unless the client asks in writing that it be retained for a later re-forecast.
- Aggregate findings may be published only after client review, and never in a form that identifies an organisation, a route or a person.
5. Disclosure
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for marketing purposes. We disclose it only to service providers who process it on our behalf under contract — email delivery, encrypted storage and accounting — and where disclosure is required by Canadian law or a court order. Service providers are bound to equivalent protection and may not use the information for their own purposes.
6. Storage and retention
Enquiry records are kept for twenty-four months. Bulletin addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Engagement records are kept for seven years to meet professional, tax and liability requirements. Server logs are kept for ninety days. Data is stored on Canadian infrastructure; where a provider processes data outside Canada, it is disclosed in the engagement agreement before work begins.
7. Your rights
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, request a copy, ask that inaccurate information be corrected, withdraw consent to marketing at any time, and ask that information be deleted where we are not required to retain it. Write to info@sprour.info. We respond within thirty days and do not charge for access requests.
8. Cookies
This site sets no advertising, analytics or third-party tracking cookies. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
Two categories of local storage may be used, both strictly necessary:
- Session preference — a short-lived value that remembers whether you have opened the mobile navigation panel, discarded when the tab closes.
- Security — where a form is submitted, a token used once to protect against cross-site request forgery.
Fonts are requested from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of that request; Google’s handling of that request is governed by its own policy. If you prefer to avoid it, blocking third-party font loading in your browser will not affect how this site works — only how it looks.
9. Contact and complaints
Privacy questions and complaints go to our Privacy Officer at info@sprour.info or 1489 Hollis Street, Suite 610, Halifax, Nova Scotia B3J 3M5, telephone (902) 555-0148. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
